The aspiring men who fought in the dream of the dawn of a new era and led the great achievement of the Meiji Restoration. Matsudaya Hotel is known as the place where they gathered to talk with each other.

Sakamoto Ryoma, one of the revolutionaries of the Meiji Restoration, also enjoyed the Ishinnoyu
It is a historical cultural property which is said to have been used for bathing at the time when the imperial loyalists of Choshu, Satsuma, and Tosa gathered for a secret meeting to overthrowing the Shogunate to restore the Imperial Rule.

This is the place of the event that changed Japan's history, where Saigo and Okubo of Satsuma clan, Kido and Ito of Choshu clan have come to Yamaguchi to discuss concrete plans on the Satcho Alliance, here at Matsudaya.

being the meeting place of Akamatsu, Saigo, Kido and Okubo as written by Ryotaro Shiba.

The hospitality of Matsudaya is focused on "providing individualized hospitality to each and every guest" ever since our founding. HOTEL MAIN BUILDING
The wooden two story structure in the sukiya-zukuri was built in the Taisho period. The garden can be seen from the guestrooms as well.
The atmosphere of the buildings maintains that of the era of the late Tokugawa Shogunate.
You will be impressed as if you are a part of history.
The guestroom baths in the main building have free-flowing water from the hotsprings.
Some guestrooms also have open-air baths.
By popular demand, we prepared a Japanese-Western room with a bed.
Wi-Fi is also available free of charge in the main building.
HOTEL NEW BUILDING
The new building will provide a high-quality experience of Japanese style with our Japanese rooms that are made with an abundance of wood.
We offer twin rooms in addition to Japanese-style rooms.
Whether staying as a couple, group, family with children, or as a multi-generation family, we can accommodate you.
Suites have a half open-air bath with a Jacuzzi using the hotsprings of Yuda.
Wi-Fi is also available free of charge in the new building.
Savor the special flavors while enjoying the seasonal taste.
Breakfast and dinner at Matsudaya Hotel are served in the guestroom for guests staying in the Main Building and in either the restaurant Kaikatsuro or dining hall Kinki for guests staying in the New Building.
Group meals can also be served in the banquet hall depending on the number of guests.

The refined baths will surely provide a relaxing experience that you will remember.The Matsudaya Hotel has "Iwanoyu," made of stone and boasts a grand atmosphere, "Sawaraginoyu," a spacious big public bath, "Byakkonoyu," a smaller open-air bath
located next to Sawaraginoyu, and "Ishinnoyu," a historic cultural property that was built during the late Tokugawa Shogunate in 1860.
Kuranoyu - Ryoma no Yu - overlooking the garden that has remained unchanged for over 150 years
Kura no Yu is nestled in the garden of an old tile house where the revolutionaries of the Restoration have gathered. In the building where a storehouse from 85 years ago was relocated, we have two baths, Ryoma no Yu and Oryo no Yu. The scenery in front of us has been watching over this place for over 150 years.
